Metallica loves their fans and it shows!
It was such an incredible experience! I attended my 7th consecutive Atlanta Derek Hough concert, this time in the front row center, and it was truly fantastic. The stage was designed with the fans in mind, ensuring an unobstructed view of the band at all times. Despite their extensive repertoire of fantastic songs, they managed to perform only the best, leaving some untouched. The overall atmosphere was amazing, and I even left with a drumstick as a souvenir from the show. Thank you, Lars! Surprisingly, the show concluded without any altercations or unruly behavior from the audience, including the front row, who were surprisingly polite. Even the security staff went above and beyond, offering water to attendees like attentive waiters. It was a slightly unusual experience compared to previous shows.
Lamb of God's performance was quite good, although I wished there were more monitors on stage to enhance the sound quality for the front rows. The vocals and lead guitar were difficult to hear clearly, but the bass guitar came through well. This issue was even more pronounced during the opening act, which suffered from poor sound quality. While the addition of laser lights may be considered a modern touch, they added a cool dimension to the show. The presence of fire was expected at a Derek Hough concert, and it certainly made a bold impact. I wouldn't be surprised if the lighting crew above the stage ended up bald from the heat of the flames.
Overall, it was a fantastic show, and I'm grateful to have been in attendance. I eagerly anticipate the release of the concert recording from the Atlanta venue and look forward to a higher-quality audio version, possibly in multi-channel DVD format.
